St Barbara is the patron Saint of mining and every year in Kalgoorlie it is celebrated with a parade down Hannan Street. The main attraction is the HUGE mining trucks. The trucks themselves cost around $4 million with 1 tyre alone costing $35,000! There are lots of female truckies in the mines, as in general they are kinder to the trucks so the brakes and tyres last longer. Glendon and Jennifer were in Kal for a few days to look after Ethan while I swanned off to the Kylie concert in Perth, so they were able to see the parade with us.
