In the mean time...

The Royal Show was an expensive event in more ways than one this year! In one of the exhibits we came across a swim spa. Basically an above ground plunge pool crossed with a spa, perfect for our back yard. After some careful consideration, we decided it would be a great investment for our family. So the big project of getting spa-ready began! 

1. We got advice and a quote from a crane company (recommended by the spa supplier) who told us they could get the spa onto our property using our neighbours driveway and backyard for access. 

2. The deck wasn't structurally strong enough to hold 7 tonne, so had to be cut out (by Selby and Glendon) for a concrete slab to be laid (which we got the professionals in to do). 

3. Glendon recycled the timber and made steps to climb into the spa. 

4. A screening fence of colourbond mini-orb was specially ordered from Stratco to ensure kids can't climb into the spa from the retaining wall. Selby and Glendon installed it.

5. Pool fencing has been ordered in from Bunnings by me and

6. I also did multiple technical drawings so that we got council approval. 

All ready for the spa to be delivered on the 23rd of December (which was delayed by the train derailment on the nullabor, so the spa came by sea from Melbourne).

The 23rd of December was 41.6C, perfect spa weather! However when the crane driver arrived with his "franna" he advised me that his crane weighed 16 tonne and was sure to crack our neighbours driveway (which would cost approx $10K to repair!). So to cut a long story short, our spa delivery has been delayed until (hopefully early in) the new year. First world problem we know!! In the meantime the slab makes an awesome handball court...
