On the weekend we decide to visit our friends Ian and Megan Nenke and stay in a cottage on their family farm in Kukerin. It was a very wet and cold day, and the farmers were all very grateful for the much needed rain! On the way we stopped in Wagin, grabbed a pie from the bakery for lunch, and ate it at The Giant Ram. We have been planning to take Owen to see the Giant Ram for years. Unfortunately he wasn't as excited to see it as he would have been a few years ago! Still, it was good to tick it off our list of "Big Things" we have visited around Australia. Afterwards, we also stopped off at Lake Dumbleyung. Here in 1964, Donald Campbell broke the world water speed record in his hydroplane, clocking an incredible 444.71 km/hr! It is the first time since 1964 that Lake Dumbleyung has been full of water! Finally, we arrived at Mary's Farm Cottages. Being a freezing 7C outside when we enjoyed cranking the heater and watching movies in bed for the rest of the afternoon! That evening we enjoyed a delicious yabby carbinara for dinner at Ian and Megan's place.
